Sgt. Summer Marie Gillispie, 25, of Fayetteville, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007. Summer was born in Orlando, Fla., on July 27, 1982, the beloved daughter of Teri Lynn Parker and adored sister of William Austin and Matthew Jackson. The true love of her life was her 4-year-old daughter, Katlyn Marie, for whom she was a proud and dedicated mother. Summer was raised by her mother in Longwood, Fla., and graduated from Lake Brantley High School in May 2000. In March 2001, she enlisted in the United States Army as an ammunition specialist and served for four years before being honorably discharged. She obtained the rank of sergeant and was awarded three Army Achievement Medals, the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon.
