Obituary

FAYETTEVILLE - Mrs. Thelma Thompson Beal, of Fayetteville, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today, Friday, Oct. 8, 2010, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville with the Rev. Randall Strickland officiating. Burial will follow in Cross Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Beal worked Cumberland County schools for more than 30 years, all while working for Rainbow Florist until recently. While working with the schools, she received the Mahoney Award for outstanding leadership in the community. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Earl Hilton Thompson and W.T. Beal. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Berle and husband Charles of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; son, Robert Thompson and wife Camile of Greenville, S.C.; five granchildren; Jeremy, Chris, Dana, Blair and Ashley; three great-grandchildren, Noah, Grace and Ruth; and sisters, Ann Smith of Greensboro, and Vi Zumel of Sylmar, Calif.; and longtime dear friends, Don and Fran Coleman of Fayetteville, and Joe Carter of Fayetteville. Services entrusted to Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
