Thelma Jackson Toler, 101, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2021 at Hope Mills Retirement Center. She was born May 31, 1919 and was a lifelong resident of Fayetteville/Cumberland County. She worked in retail for many years, from downtown Fayetteville in the 1950's and 60's up until her retirement from Peebles Department store in 1984. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church for many years and was active with the ladies groups up until the time her health made that impossible. She loved her stories, wrestling, and enjoyed taking care of her yard and especially her azaleas.

Thelma Toler was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond A Toler, Sr.; her parents, Marvin Jackson and Lena Lynch Jackson; sisters, Ruth Young, Ruby Graham, Muriel Hospodar, Margaret Lockamy, Jewell McNeill; brothers, Odis Jackson, Winfred Jackson; and several nieces and nephews.

She is survived by a son, Raymond A Toler, Jr. and wife Tiffany of Fayetteville NC; 4 grandchildren, Lauren Ward and husband Johnny of Greensboro NC, Elizabeth Belardo and husband Angelo of Raleigh NC, Hannah Hill of Charleston SC, Connor Beckmann of Fayetteville NC; and 2 great-grandchildren, Annalise Ivy Ward and Reign Aleksandr Belardo.

She is survived by sisters, Faye Brake of  Hayes, VA, Linda Enloe and husband Bill of Fayetteville NC; brother, Kenneth Jackson of Hayes, VA, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Hope Mills Retirement Center, 3HC Health & Hospice Care and the myriad of local groups that stopped by ''just because'' and left gifts and things for the residents.

The family will receive friends from 1 - 2 PM on Thursday, May 20, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 2 PM in the Jernigan-Warren Chapel. Burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park.
