Mrs. Thennie Bell Franklin, 76, formerly residing at 3502 Scottywood Drive, Fayetteville, died Thursday, March 13, 2008, at Highsmith-Rainey Specialty Hospital. Thennie Bell was born in Fayetteville on Jan. 3, 1932, to the late Arnold and Mattie Benson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Master Sgt. Russell E. Franklin. She was a loving mother, not only to her children, but the many children she cared for during her life. She was affectionately known as "Granny" by all. She is survived by a son, Ricky Franklin and wife Carol of Moreland, Ga.; and four daughters, Debra Franklin, Patsy Crawford and husband Del, and Tammy McKethan and husband Gene, all of Fayetteville, and Peggy Barbee and husband Steve of Garner. She had 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 17, 2008, at MacPherson Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Cross Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 tonight, March 16, 2008, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.
