Thomas Allen Dean, 59, of Fayetteville, passed on January 6, 2017, after a lengthy illness.
Born November 1, 1957 to Louis O. (Jr.) and Helen Dean in Portage, WI. He served in the US Army and later owned and operated Dean's Construction for more than 30 years. He was a member of Phoenix Lodge #8, AF&AM;, past president of the Fayetteville Scottish Rite, member of the Fayetteville York Rite, and Sudan Temple. He was the general contractor that built the Hope Mills Shrine Club building and was the area contractor for Orkin termite contracts for many years. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Hope Mills.
He was preceded in death by his father, Louis O. Dean, Jr. and his brother, Louis O. Dean, III.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Heath Dean of Fayetteville; his sons, Thomas Killcrease (Lindsay) of Halthom, TX, Michael Killcrease (Angela) of Killeen, TX, Warren Stewart of Fayetteville and James Stewart of Ocracoke, NC; a daughter, Sabrina E. Spencer of Elizabethtown, KY; his mother, Helen "Pat" Dean; his sisters, Deborah Bath (Joe) of Fayetteville, Susan Wooster (Don) of Fayetteville, and Karen Dean of Archdale, NC; his brother-in-law, Charles Heath (Diana) of Elyria, OH; and his sisters-in-law, Rachel Heath of Fayetteville, Sallie Lynn Simpson (Bobby) of Waterbury, CT, and Sarah Carr (Rick) of Garner, NC; 10 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 12, 2017, at 11 am in Jernigan Warren Chapel with Reverend Tom Hayes officiating with Masonic Rites and Military Honors. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10 to 11 am Thursday at the funeral home and other times at 3150 Crows Nest Drive.
Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Children Hospital or to Friendship Baptist Church Building Fund.
