FAYETTEVILLE - Thomas Junior Evelyn, 85, of Fayetteville, died Monday, Oct. 11, 2010, in N.C. State Veterans Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010, at 3 p.m. in Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home chapel in Fayetteville with the Rev. Sherrill Boykin and the Rev. David Holloway officiating. Burial in Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Evelyn was a Navy veteran of World War II, having served on the U.S.S. Essex. He was the former owner and operator of Fayetteville Roofing Co. He was a member of Second Baptist Church for 45 years. He is survived by his wife, Pauline Davis Evelyn of the home; sons, Tommy \\"T.J.\\" Evelyn and wife Ella of Wilson, and Timothy Wayne Evelyn of Wilson; daughters, Juanita Evelyn Griffin of Carthage and Darlene Torbert and husband Jack of Atlantic Beach; stepson, Ted Wayne Davis and wife Brenda of New Bern; stepdaughter, Mary Louise Fisher and husband Tommy of Stedman; six grandchildren, Tommy Evelyn, Bridget Evelyn, Melody Page, Thomas Gene Griffin, Melton Caison and Wendi Lassiter; and six great-grandchildren. Services entrusted to Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
