Thomas Mark Skaggs, 79, of Fayetteville, formerly of Beckley and Ona, West Virginia went to his Heavenly home on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at his residence with his family by his side.
Mark was born on August 18, 1942, in Beckley, WV to the late Victor Mark Skaggs and Virginia Settle Skaggs. He worked as a claims adjuster with Nationwide Insurance Co. and as an agent with American National Insurance Co. in Huntington, WV and after relocating to Fayetteville he retired from Nationwide as a claims adjuster.
He was a Boy Scout and earned his Eagle Scout Award. He was a charter member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Barboursville, WV where he served on the Bus Ministry for many years and was also a Gideon.
He was a current member of Arran Lake Baptist Church, where friends became his family. He was A Child of The King and a proud WV Mountaineer.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, November 1, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Arran Lake Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1-2 prior to the service at the Church. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Blueridge Funeral Home in Beckley, WV The family will receive friends from 1-2 prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Blueridge Memorial Gardens.
Mark was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend to all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret "Maggie" Skaggs; daughter, Shelley Skaggs Smith; son, Alan Michael Skaggs and wife Laura; daughter, Shea Skaggs Loewen and husband Jeff; sister, Patricia S. Lewis and husband Spencer; twin brother, Mack Skaggs and wife Tammy; grandchildren, Timothy "Timmy" C. Smith II, Mason Thomas Loewen, Micah Loewen and Mark Loewen; many nieces and nephews and his beloved in-laws.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International or to your local Church.
