Thomas Nickels (T.N.) Holmes Jr., 90, of Fayetteville, was called from this earthly life to his eternal home by his savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, March 8, 2015.

He was the son of the late Thomas Nickels Holmes Sr. and Lillian Puckett Holmes.

Mr. Holmes was the superintendent of Golden Belt Orchards and Farms and later the superintendent of grounds maintenance at Post Engineers on Fort Bragg. He was a founding member of Peace Presbyterian Church and an avid golfer. Mr. Holmes was a U.S. Army Air Corp. veteran of World War II

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alda C. Holmes.

Surviving Mr. Holmes are his daughters, Carol (Bruce) Dillard of Raleigh, Cheryl Holmes of Fayetteville and Dawn Holmes of Olivia; his sons, Gary (Tina) of Black Mountain, Bill (Kitty) of Youngsville and Chris (Lorrie) of Rock Hill, S.C.; his 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and his three brothers, Stephen of Brunswick, Ga., Lotes of Lillington and Joe of Olivia.

Mr. Holmes' funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2015, in Barbecue Presbyterian Church in Sanford. The Rev. Dawn Stoker and Ron Holmes will officiate.

Burial will be in the family plot in Barbecue Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2015, Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville.
