Thomas Marvin Vick III ("Tommy") died in Fayetteville, North Carolina, on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at the age of 76. He was born in Durham, North Carolina on July 16, 1941. He was preceded in death by his parents, Catharine and Thomas Marvin Vick, Jr.

Tommy graduated from Grainger High School in Kinston in 1959 and earned a bachelor's degree in Economics and Psychology from Greensboro College in 1964. Tommy served in the Army in Vietnam and nine years in the U.S.Army Reserve. In 1977 he reenlisted in the Army and retired in 2001, after serving in Washington, D.C.; Germany; Ft. Lee, Virginia; Ft. Bragg, North Carolina; Kuwait and Korea. Tommy is survived by his wife Su, stepson Stephen Brooks, stepdaughter Maren Brooks, daughter-in-law Carey Jefferson, step-granddaughter Madeline Brooks, brother Paul Vick and sister Cathy Vick, as well as several nephews, nieces-in-law, and grand-nieces and -nephews. A memorial service will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church on Ramsey Street, at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 26, 2018.
