Obituary

Vera Estelle John was born April 1, 1931, in Clovis, New Mexico, to John Roy and Rosa Estelle Trapp. Vera married Jay Roy Jobe on June 5, 1949, in Bellevue, NM. Together they raised five children, Steven Louis, Rebecca Irene, John Roy, Danie Lee, and Verlin Paul Jobe. Vera's marriage to Roy lasted until 1990. In 1956, they moved to Southern California, where they lived for 13 years, then moved back to New Mexico.

Vera was an incredibly talented seamstress, tailor, and dressmaker, as well as an extraordinarily talented crochet artist. She loved Jesus with all her heart and passed that love onto her children, grandchildren, and countless children in Sunday School. Vera moved to Farmington, New Mexico, in the mid-1980s, where she met her second husband, David John. They were married in 1992 and remained happily married until David died in 2008. In 2011, she made the decision to leave Farmington and move to Fayetteville, NC, to live with her daughter, Rebecca. She resided with Rebecca and her family until a stroke in August of 2025 necessitated her continued care at a nursing home.

She transitioned into eternity peacefully in her sleep the evening of October 3, 2026. She was 95 years old at the time of her death. She is preceded in death by her father, John Roy Trapp; mother, Rosa Estelle Trapp; stepmother, Bessie Grimes Trapp; siblings Verlin Trapp, Louise Carmen, and Florene Clayton; first husband, Roy Jobe; second husband, David John; three sons, Steven, John, and Danie Jobe; and many other family members.

She is survived by her daughter Rebecca Kringel (Robert); son Paul; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2026, at 2:00 pm in the Jernigan-Warren Chapel. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Memory Gardens in Farmington, New Mexico.

We count today as a day of celebration as she begins her new life with her greatest love, her Lord Jesus.
