Mrs. Virginia Williford Culbreth, 86, of Fayetteville passed away Monday, Aug. 21, 2006, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11:30 am Thursday, Aug. 24, with the funeral following at 11:30 am, at Salem United Methodist Church in Eastover. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fletcher C. McLaurin, in 1956; and her son, Fletcher C. \\"Buddy\\" McLaurin, Jr., in 2004. Mrs Culbreth retired after 33 years as a cafeteria manager with Cumberland County schools. She was a lifetime member of Salem United Methodist Church, where she played the organ for 13 years. She is survived husband of 49 years, Wayland Culbreth of the home; a son, David J. McLaurin of Tallahassee, Fla.; five grandchildren, Sheila Simpson, Wendy Kerr and Chris McLaurin, all of Tallahassee, Kristie Mitchell of Raleigh and Shannon McLaurin of Charlotte; and five great-grandchildren.
