Retired Army 1st Sergeant Waldo Hillman Deason Jr., 85, of Fayetteville, died Monday, April 28, 2008, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Mr. Deason was a veteran of WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He retired from the US Postal Service after many years of service.
He was a member of the VFW and a supporter and contributor of the Disabled American Veterans.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Waldo H. Deason Sr., and Dora Mae Freeman Deason; and a brother, Theodore \\"Pee Wee\\" Deason, all of Tuscaloosa.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Smith Deason of the home; daughters, Elizabeth D. Deason of Fayetteville, Lyndia Sue Simpson and husband Volkmar of Linden, and Dora Bonnie Deason of Rockledge FL; son, Waldo H. Deason III and wife, Susan Kruger of Anderson Creek; sister, Martha Taylor of Terre Haute, Ind; grandchildren, Brad Armstrong and wife, Jennifer of Durham, Jennifer Godoa and husband Marcello of Dallas, Christopher Simpson of Linden, Christina Simpson of Durham, and Samantha Ella and Aaron Wyatt Deason of Spring Lake; and great-grandchildren, Kelly, Carter and Logan Armstrong, Hailey Kraft and Zachary Simpson, all of Durham.
A graveside service with full military honors will be held Thursday, May 1, 2008, at 2 pm in Cumberland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends today, April 30, 2008, from 6 to 8 pm at Jernigan Warren.
