Walter "Butch" Monroe Marshall, 81 of Fayetteville, passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2021.

Walter was born on January 18, 1940, in Plains, Georgia. He served in the U.S. Army until he was injured and honorably discharged. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 17, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Sandhills State Veteran Cemetery Chapel with military honors.

Walter was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria "Lady Bird" Brown Marshall; stepdaughter, Stacy Gill, and husband Mark; sister, Rosemary Fletcher; grandchildren, Anthony, Niara and Jaylynn Gill.
