Obituary

Fayetteville- Mr. Walter Clifton "C.C." Culbreth, 84, died Wednesday, January 7, 2015, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at 3 pm in Salem United Methodist Church with Rev. David Beck presiding. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Jernigan Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville.

C.C. was the tenor signature for the Eastover Quartet for over 20 years. The Eastover Quartet won the Grand Champion trophy at the 1960 Benson Sing. Sixteen years later, the quartet went back to Benson and won the Male Quartet Champion trophy.

Mr. Culbreth worked in retail for over 45 years, 29 years with Sears and Roebuck and 16 years with JCPenney, until his retirement. He was also a diehard Duke sports fan.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Culbreth; his parents, Daniel Maxwell and Julia Sessoms Culbreth; his brothers, David, Dossie, Durwood, Olive and Sessoms Culbreth; and his sisters, Ruby Culbreth, Elma Culbreth Truelove, Eunice Culbreth Raynor and Della Mae Culbreth Matthews.

He is survived by a son, Scott and his wife, Sherrie of Fayetteville and their daughter, Cameron Sims and husband, Josh, of Apex; a daughter, Jane Lomax and husband Allan, and their children, Matthew Allan and Andrew Jonathan, of Elizabethtown; a son, David and his wife, Dedra, and their children, Savannah Rae and Daniel Maxwell, of Faytteville; and his beloved pet, Trigger.
