Walter W.
Jordan
August 5, 1927 – June 17, 2016
Mr. Walter Wade Jordan, 88, of Fayetteville, died Friday, June 17, 2016. He was a servant of God, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Mr. Jordan was a veteran of the US Army and proudly served during World War II. After serving our country he joined Burroughs Corporation as a Field Engineer and retired after 36 years of service. He spent his retirement years doing all the things he loved best. As a man of God, Mr. Jordan faithfully served his church and in leadership capacities with his church's Association. As a family man, he cherished memories made with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and especially delighted in planning family beach trips. As a gardener, he designed a beautiful landscape full of his favorite flower, the daylily, and always jumped at the chance to share plants from his garden with friends. And, as a public servant, Mr. Jordan served many years with the Cumberland County Board of Elections.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Etta Fields Jordan, and his father, Charlie Jordan, his daughter, Julie Jordan, and his brothers and sisters. Mr. Jordan is survived by his wife, Mary Goldston Jordan, daughter, Janet Warren and husband, Richard, son, Charles Wade Jordan and wife, Julie, grandchildren, Nathaniel Wade Jordan and wife, Tori, Meredith Ann Jordan and Ethan Robert Jordan, and great grandchildren, Nolan Wade Jordan and Eli Martin Jordan, sister in law, Shirley Jordan, beloved nieces and nephews, and many precious friends. Walter experienced great joy in serving others. Please consider a memorial in his honor in that spirit to a charity of your choice. Funeral service is Wednesday, June 22 at 11:00 am at Village Baptist Church, 906 S McPherson Church Road, Fayetteville NC followed by visitation. Though you have not seen Him, you love Him; and even though you do not see Him now, you believe in Him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls. 1 Peter 1:8-9
