Wayne Thomas Everts, 62, of Cameron passed away Monday, April 18, 2022 at Womack Army Medical Center.
Wayne was born July 11, 1959 in Saratoga Springs, NY to the late Roy K. Everts and Barbara L. Whipple. He was also preceded in death by his step-father, Lewis Whipple.
Wayne served his country and community through his years of service in the military and N.C. Forestry Service. He was a loving husband, father, brother, son, and uncle but his greatest joy was being Grampy to his little princess.
Wayne fought cancer with strength and dignity, that flowed from his faith in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
In the days before his death, he was able to do some of his favorite things. He went to Disney World and attended an ECU Pirates baseball game at UCF. Wayne lived life to the fullest, even on the hard days.
A Memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 2 pm at St. Matthew's United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 from 6-8:00 pm. An additional memorial service will be held in Wallburg, NC at a later date.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Elaine D. Everts; son Bradley K. Everts (Sarah) and their daughter Danica; daughter Amy-Jo E. White ( Jeffery); brothers Jeffrey Everts (Janis) Douglas Everts( Beverly); sisters Alice Marks( David), Kimberly Frietag ( William), Reagan Kendrew; step-mother Margaret Everts; 4 step-siblings; several nieces ,nephews , great-nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the American Cancer Society, Ft. Bragg Fisher House or St. Matthew's United Methodist Church.
