FAYETTEVILLE - William Russell \\"Bill\\" Godwin, 81, of Fayetteville, departed from this life on Tuesday, July 21, 2009. Bill was a retired salesman for Merita/American Bakeries and an Army veteran. He was also a member of Village Baptist Church, John Huske Anderson Masonic Lodge and Seventy-First Ruritan Club. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Joan R. Godwin; and brothers, John R. Godwin, Elwood L. Godwin and George W. Godwin. He is survived by his sons, Gary R. Godwin and wife Vicky of Macomb, Mich., and Robert W. \\"Bob\\" Godwin and wife Becky of Charleston, S.C., sisters, Evelyn Bryant of Smithfield; Sadie Tart of Greenville and Mattie Ruth Raudebaugh of Edenton; grandchildren, Nicholas B. Godwin, Matthew R. Godwin, Danielle N. Bottomley and Briana M. Bottomley; and a great-grandson, Ian L. Bottomley. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 25, 2009, at 11 a.m. in Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home chapel in Fayetteville with Dr. Bruce Martin and Dr. Norman Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, July 24, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, July 25, 2009, from 10 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Village Baptist Church Sound System Fund, 906 S.
