William Earl Burris, 65, of Sanford, North Carolina passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022, at Womack Army Medical Center.

Bill was born on January 10, 1957, in Nashville, TN to the late Russell Devall Burris and Dewilla Autumn Jenkins Burris. He was a U.S. Marine Veteran, where he served as a Drill Instructor and as a Tanker. In 1989 he reentered the U.S. Army and Retired SSG with the Special Forces.

Bill was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him. He enjoyed any dessert that involved strawberries and his absolute favorite dessert was German Chocolate Cake. He loved tinkering with old cars and his Harley Davidson motorcycle.

He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Asmaa Ali Burris; son, Jeremy Scott Burris and wife Hannah Ruth; daughter, Janie Autumn Glover; sister, Sharon Beatty and husband Rusty; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Abby, Kailyn, Kameron, Kaylee and Gideon; stepmother, Candy Burris; stepmother, Judith Hickman; and his fur babies, Jinjil, Lucky, Isabella and Smurfette.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, January 28, 2022, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. A Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home with full Military Honors. He will be laid to rest at a later date in Woodlawn Cemetery in Nashville, TN.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
