FAYETTEVILLE - William Durant Gallup, 75, of Fayetteville, died Saturday, June 20, 2009, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Mr. Gallup was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was also a member of Arran Lake Baptist Church and Creasy Proctor Masonic Lodge. He retired from Sprint, now Embarq, after 30 years.
Mr. Gallup is survived by his wife, Katie M. Gallup; son, Durant T . Gallup of Fayetteville; daughter, Deborah Gallup Richau of Columbus, Ga.; four grandchildren, Valerie Sparks and husband Brad, Cole Gallup, Lynsie Gallup and Kaitlyn Richau; and two great-grandchildren, Trenton Gallup and Dekon Gallup.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2009, in Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home chapel in Fayetteville with Dr. Jeff Isenhour officiating. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park West with Masonic rites.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30p.m. Tuesday, June, 23, 2009, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Arran Lake Baptist Church, 1130 Bingham Drive, Fayetteville, NC 28304; or to the American Cancer Society, 8300 Health Park, Suite 10, Raleigh, NC 27615.
