Obituary

William M. Radford Sr., 81, of 2436 Torcross Drive, Fayetteville, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Mr. Radford was a former member of the Peace Corps and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a retired deputy comptroller at Fort Bragg, a former part-time educator with Johnston County schools and a former instructor at Fayetteville Technical Community College. He was scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 706. Mr. Radford is survived by two sons, William M. Radford Jr. and wife Ann of Fredericksburg, Va., and Jeffrey Alexander Radford and wife Alejandra of Venezuela; a daughter, Donna Lynne Daubert and husband Scott of Fuquay-Varina; a sister, Mavis R. Barnes and husband Maurice of Farmington, Ark.; six grandchildren, Nicole Radford, Ashley Radford, Ralph Ernst, Michael Ernst and wife Amanda, Amy Ernst and Kelly Ernst; and a great-granddaughter, Marie Ann Cox. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, in the chapel of Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville with the Rev. Sandy Saunders officiating. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association of North Carolina, 3801 Lake Boone Trail, Suite 190, Raleigh, NC 27607.
