William "Bill" Ronald Strange, 91, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 5, 2026.

Bill was born on May 10, 1934, in Wewahitchka, Florida, to the late Alfred "Pick" Strange, Sr. and Mable Beatrice Strange.

A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Bill went on to build a long and successful career in the insurance industry. He retired as a manager from Life of Georgia Insurance Company, where he also worked as a salesman. Even after retirement, Bill remained active in his profession, working with several other insurance companies.

Bill had a deep love for sports, especially golf, where he took great pride in consistently shooting his age. He cherished time spent with his family, particularly on camping trips where he enjoyed fishing for catfish and cooking them up with hushpuppies and Coleslaw for everyone to share. He also found joy in music, especially listening to Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, and gospel music and country.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his siblings, Charlie Strange, Tommy Strange and Junior Strange, and his first wife, Joyce Wood Strange.

He is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Sylvia Matthews Strange; his son, Gary Strange; his daughter, Rhonda Fokes and her husband James; his sister, Beverly Pitts and her husband Herman; his grandchildren, William Ronald Wurst and his wife Kristin, Sarah Kirkland and her husband Dave, Kiersten Chesson and her husband Adam, and Michael David Strange; and his great-grandchildren, Brennia, Chastain,  Cassidy, Liam, Jacob, Jac, and Cooper.

A gathering of friends will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. Bill will be laid to rest beside his first wife at Erwin Cemetery.
