Obituary

Retired U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. William Joseph Vincent, 73, of Fayetteville, died Sunday, March 2, 2008, in the N.C. State Veterans Nursing Home in Fayetteville. Mr. Vincent was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was presented the Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service. He worked with AMP Inc. in Cary and retired from AMP/Tyco Electronics in Harrisburg, Pa. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville from 1 p.m. until the service begins at 2 p.m. in the chapel. Following the service, burial with full military honors will be at Lafayette Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be members of the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Vincent, known to his family and friends as Billy Joe, is survived by a sister, Mary V. Crumpler and husband Douglas of Fayetteville; a brother, Monsignor Robert G. Vincent of LaPlace, La.; a niece, Elizabeth C. Clark and husband Stephen of Fayetteville; and a nephew, D. Howard Crumpler Jr., and a grandnephew, Tyler Joel Crumpler, both of Hampstead. His parents, Michael Vincent and Elizabeth Carter Vincent, a brother, Paul D. Vincent and a grandnephew, Douglas Allen Barnes, preceded him in death. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, a favorite charity of Mr. Vincent. Services entrusted to Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
