W.M. Boyd Mercer

W.M. Boyd Mercer, 80 of Fayetteville, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2017. He was born on September 3, 1936 in Tolar Hart to the late WM & Bettie Mercer of Fayetteville. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Mercer and Larry Mercer and a sister, Linda M. Beecham. He was an Air Force Veteran and a retired Letter Carrier at the Lafayette Branch with the US Postal Service. He was a ham radio operator, N4ERI, and an avid golfer.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joan Bennett Mercer of the home. A daughter Carol Mercer Garris of Fayetteville,and a niece, Christine Gardler and her husband, Brian, of Chesapeke, Va, two grandchildren, Jennifer Garris Taylor of Guam and Allison Garris of Fayetteville. And a brother, Carlon Mercer and his wife Mary of Fayetteville, and a sister, Betty Zerr and her husband Richard of New Bern, NC.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to FAPS and Alzheimers Disease Research. A memorial graveside will be held at 3pm on Thursday, June 29th 2017 at Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street.
