Addie Bennie Parnell Williford, born February 10, 1929, said farewell to her family and friends in this world on May 27, 2025, joining her husband, Milbon (Mib) Williford, in Heaven. She grew up in the Skibo area of Fayetteville, NC, and enjoyed riding her bike and her horse, sometimes on day-long trips throughout the county and beyond.
She was very active in 4-H club and enjoyed summer camp at White Lake, where she learned to swim and met new friends from all over the county. Her favorite activities were sewing and gardening. One year she had an acre for her garden that she planted, cared for, and gathered, and kept records of it all.
Another interesting 4-H project was quilting. She learned to make quilts at an early age and continued quilting into her 90’s. She gave most of her quilts to family, friends, and “snuggle quilts” as love gifts to residents in retirement homes, cancer patients, homeless children, and missionaries.
She received her education at Seventy First public schools in Fayetteville, NC, Campbell Academy in Buies Creek, NC, East Carolina College in Greenville, NC, and Fayetteville Tech Community College.
Addie was married to Mib Williford for 61 happy years. After teaching kindergarten for ten years at Guy’s Private School, she joined Mib at Williford’s Hardware in Bordeaux Shopping Center for 25 years as the office manager.
She was a long-time member of LaFayette Baptist Church where she taught Bible Study to all ages until she was 91 years old. She also taught the art of quilting to church members. She enjoyed the Keenagers Club as well as the Senior Adult Choir and, along with Mib, went on many trips with the group.
Addie also had an interest in genealogy and spent much time researching her family history back to the 8th century. She loved her family very much and is looking forward to having them with her one day in Heaven. They include her son, Bobby Williford (Wanda), daughters Kathy Pegram (Richard), and Sheila Frazier (Don), grandchildren Katy Pegram Stevens (Jason), Lindsay Williford Hall, Jessica Pegram Mefford (David), Carlin Williford Godley (David), Zak Frazier (Shannon), great grandchildren Riley Hall, Henry Mefford, Harper Mefford, Reese Godley, Charlie Godley, Victor Stevens, and Chloe Frazier.
The family would like to especially thank her beautiful friends and caregivers Harriet Webster, Mary Whisnant, Connie Walling, and Gloria McCall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels through the Cumberland County Council on Older Adults, 339 Devers Street, Fayetteville, NC 28303.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Cumberland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:30 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.
