Addye Moses Obituary

Addye Henry Baggett Moses died on April 10, 2023, just shy of her 90th birthday. She was born on April 24, 1933, in Athens, Georgia, to John Robert and Catherine Jones Baggett.  She graduated from Lillington High School and earned her bachelor’s degree in teaching from Greensboro Woman’s College. Addye Henry married West Point graduate Dan Moses on December 28, 1956, and in the midst of multiple military postings, she was a proud officer’s wife who was a great role model for other women.

Addye Henry was an avid competitor in bowling and bridge, and she had a flair for enjoying life and the social camaraderie of any occasion and frequently traveled to national bowling conventions. She taught bridge and actively served in leadership capacities with the Fayetteville Women’s Bowling Association and charitable outreach. It was no surprise to her friends and family that she was the Fayetteville Women’s Bowler of the Year in 2000 setting an example of fair play and sportsmanship.

With a green thumb and excellent skills in the kitchen, Addye Henry was the most hospitable host and she and Dan never failed to help decorate the Baggett House in Lillington for Christmas. She created a loving home and took great pride in her role as a mother to four children, and grandmother to seven children.

Addye Henry is survived by her beloved husband U.S. Army Colonel Dan Moses (Ret.), her children, James Moses (and wife Judy) of Seattle, WA, Catherine Moses of Winston-Salem, Stephen Moses (and wife Leisa) of Fort Worth, TX, Nancy Vannoy (and husband Rob) of Neptune Beach, FL, her seven grandchildren: Kylie, Connor, Caden, Ciara, Kelly (Clarkson), Erin, and Molly, her brother, William Baggett, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She will be dearly missed by all.

Addye Henry was preceded in death by her siblings, Dr. John Robert Baggett and Keeter Pope.
