Alanson Orville Taylor, III, passed away July 7, 2021, in Fayetteville, NC from cancer.
Alanson was born March 5, 1937 in Philadelphia, PA to Alanson Orville, Jr. and Ellie Bertha Taylor.
He served in the US Marine Corps from July 30, 1956 to July 29, 1958.
Alanson enjoyed the culinary arts, time at the beach and surf fishing. He collected steam locomotive train memorabilia that reminded him of his childhood where he grew up around and worked as a teenager in the railroad industry.
Alanson is survived by his wife of 33 years, Ruth Ann; his four children, Deborah Jane Andres, Gretchen Louise Kontul, Alanson IV, and Barbara Marie Ellie Hercules, from a previous marriage; his only brother, John; and step-sons, R. Brent Stultz and Brian A. Stultz and all their families.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 19, 2021 from 10:30-11:30am at Hay Street United Methodist Church with a Memorial service directly following. Interment with Marine Corps Honors will follow the service at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery at 1:00pm.
