It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Alice Mintz Blanton, aged
73, on September 8, 2023. She peacefully departed this life in Smithfield, North Carolina, with her beloved family by her side. She was born on June 15, 1950, in Fayetteville, North Carolina to the late Norman S. Mintz and Annie Bell Holder Mintz.
Alice was a woman of deep faith and strong values. Alice dedicated her life to caring for others and co-owned Blanton’s Wash Center and Carwash, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and commitment. Her tireless efforts and unwavering attention to detail earned her respect and admiration throughout the community.
Alice was a loyal member of Campground United Methodist Church, where she devoted herself to instructing Sunday School and leading Vacation Bible School. When she wasn’t selflessly attending to the needs of those around her, Alice found joy in spending quality time with her grandchildren, working in her yard, and engaging in retail therapy. She possessed a wanderlust spirit and cherished traveling, with a particular fondness for the breathtaking beauty of autumn in the mountains.
Alice’s philanthropic spirit was boundless as she generously volunteered her time for charitable initiatives, notably Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child and Operation Shoebox for deployed soldiers.
Forever cherishing her memory, Alice is survived by her loving husband, David K. Blanton; her “MOM”, Evelyn F. Blanton; her devoted son, Nathan David Blanton, and his wife, Angela Blanton; her cherished daughter, Lisa A. Mensing, and her husband Aaron Mensing; her beloved son, William A. Blanton, and his wife, Shanna Blanton; her adored granddaughter, Brittany Blanton; her dear grandsons, David Blanton, Aaron Blanton, Wyatt Blanton, and Nicholas Blanton; and her treasured great-granddaughter, Kylie Blanton. Preceding her in death are her father, Norman S. Mintz; her mother, Annie Bell Holder Mintz; her brother, Norman Currie Mintz; and her sister, Sara Mintz West.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 14, 2023, from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Camp Ground United Methodist Church, where a solemn Celebration of Life Service will commence at 1:30 p.m., followed by a burial at Lafayette Memorial Park.
