With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Alice Marie Gilbert, a woman of love and sincerity to all who knew her. Alice, a resident of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and formerly of New Bern, was born in Brockton, Massachusetts on March 2nd, 1932, the youngest of seven children, to her late parents Wilfred and Alice Gegenheimer. She departed peacefully from this world on August 30th, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and resilience that will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate to share in her journey. Alice was known for her work ethic, strength, service to others and her sense of humor. Her unwavering faith in her Lord and Savior made her a beloved figure in her community and beyond.
Alice was a homemaker for many years, then a dedicated secretary for both Calvary Baptist Christian School and Terminix. She was known for her commitment to service and her strength.
Her memory is cherished by her children, Bobbie Wolz (Donald), Art Wolz Jr. (Cheryl), Tim Wolz (Beverly), Marie Myers (John), and Rick Gonzales (Tyker), along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Alice is preceded in death by husbands Arthur Wolz Sr., Henry Gonzales and Jim Gilbert as well as her daughters, Jerri Hendren and Linda Hare and sons-in-law Donald Hare and Donald Piner.
A visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 7, 2025, in the sanctuary of Calvary Baptist Church, 1821 Rhem Avenue, New Bern, NC 28560. This will be followed at 1:30 p.m. by a service to celebrate Alice’s life, conducted by Pastor John Keeter.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation for the care, concern, and love shown to Alice from Amedisys Hospice, Visiting Angels, and the staff at Heritage Place Assisted Living.
