Beatrice Daniel Barbour, 90, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Friday, May 30, 2025, in Charlotte, North Carolina with her daughter by her side.
Bea was born on November 4, 1934, in Harnett County, North Carolina. She was a beloved matriarch whose life has been a tapestry woven with love, spirited patriotism, kindness, and dedication. Bea cherished her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and found her greatest joy in her faith. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Bea enjoyed a loving marriage with the love of her life, Willis (Bill) Alton Barbour. Their love story began with a blind date arranged by Bill’s uncle, leading to a beautiful union that lasted for 64 years until Bill’s passing on September 21, 2015. Together they created a family filled with love and laughter, welcoming children, Larry and Linda, who continue to carry forward her legacy of warmth and compassion. Family has always been Bea’s greatest treasure. She poured her heart into being a dedicated wife and mother, finding joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her hobbies, including vegetable and flower gardening, showcased her nurturing spirit, while her talents as an expert cook and quilter reflected her creativity and passion. Recognized as an exquisite quilter by the National Quilt Society, her creations are a testament to her artistry and attention to detail.
Her life has been enriched by her love for our country. Bea was a proud American who displayed her patriotism daily by flying her American flag, embodying her unwavering support for our great country. Her hobbies of avid reading, playing beautiful hymns on the piano by ear, playing harmonica and singing, all brought moments of joy and reflection into her days.
With a big heart and an unwavering love, she cherished her relationships with her family and friends over the years. In addition to her family and personal life, Bea devoted 40 years of her life to serving others as a private duty nurse. Known for her exceptional caregiving skills, she touched the lives of countless patients, who often looked forward to her compassionate presence. Her career was marked by a deep commitment to nurturing and supporting those in need, a testament to her nurturing spirit.
As we reflect on Bea’s remarkable life, we celebrate her resilience, her love for God, country, family, and the countless lives she has touched. Her legacy of kindness and compassion will forever be remembered and cherished.
Bea is survived by her daughter, Linda Barbour Mullis of Charlotte, NC; son, Larry Alton Barbour of Fayetteville, NC; grandson, Jimmy Alton Barbour and wife Nikkie of Beach Park, IL; great-grandchildren, Dominick and Gianna Barbour of Beach Park, IL; siblings, Anna Lou Brock and Robert Daniel both of Fayetteville, NC. She deeply loved her family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew her. She reached the incredible age of 90, showcasing a spirit that continues to inspire all those around her.
Bea is preceded in death by her loving husband, Willis “Bill” Alton Barbour; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Daniel; sister, Alice Daniel Fish; brothers, Curwood Daniel (Marie); Tink Daniel (Gladys); Oscar Daniel (Maude); and Charlie Daniel (Karamay); nephew, Kirk Daniel and niece, Jean Daniel. Though she has faced the loss of many loved ones, her spirit remains a guiding light in the lives of her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 12:00 pm at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow services at Lafayette Memorial Park.
