Betsy Nunnamaker Muncy

Betsy Tyndall Nunnamaker Muncy, of Fayetteville, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Sampson County, Betsy was the daughter of the late Fredrick Tyndall and Alene Warren Tyndall and was the youngest and last surviving of six children. She was dedicated to community service and had a deep love for her family.

Betsy was a devoted civic leader in Fayetteville. She served as past president of the Cross Creek Garden Club and as past president of the Woman’s Club of Fayetteville. She played a key role in organizing the club’s first Christmas Home Tour fundraiser, an event that benefited the community and reflected her passion for service and fellowship.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Furman Nunnamaker, Jr., and Bob Muncy.

She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Nunnamaker Epperson and husband Gary, and Karen Nunnamaker Richmond and husband Kevin; her granddaughters, Olivia Richmond Speaker and husband Jason, and Savannah Richmond Reecer and husband Brandon; and her great-grandchildren, Landon, Shepherd, Sutton, and Brodie. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who were very dear to her.

The family would like to thank her dear friends and caregivers, Pat and Ben Bennett, for all the years of dedication, love and support they provided to their mother.

A private family service will be held.
