Betty Jo (Cypert) Daugherty

Betty Jo Cypert Daugherty, 98, of Fayetteville, NC passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 9, 2025.  Born on May 14, 1926 in Lockney, TX, she was the daughter of William Quay and Louise Cypert.

Betty graduated from Olton High School in Olton, TX and Wayland Baptist University with an Associate of Arts degree.  She retired as an elementary school secretary in Artesia, NM where her husband John, was a secondary school principal for 27 years. Betty taught Sunday School for many decades in various Baptist Churches. She and her husband enjoyed traveling.

She was predeceased by her parents and husband John.

Survivors include her daughter Deborah Daugherty O’Neil of Fayetteville, NC and son John and wife Phyllis Daugherty, of Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren Angela O’Neil Velazquez and husband Eddie, Katie O’Neil Herring and husband Chris, Rebekah Daugherty Ashlock and husband Eric Lengany, Alison Daugherty Wofford and husband Russell Layson, and John O’Neil, along with 12 great-grandchildren

Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held 1:30 pm Saturday, February 15, 2025 at First Baptist Church, 201 Anderson Street, Fayetteville, NC with visitation to follow. 

Betty’s family would like to thank the staff of Highland House Rehabilitation and Healthcare along with Liberty Hospice for their loving care during the last years of her life.
