Betty Bridges Marsh, 97, of Fayetteville NC, left this earth for her heavenly home on October 8, 2024, after a lengthy Alzheimer’s illness.
Betty was born in Rutherfordton to the late John and Eva Simpson. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Angus Aurelius and Bud; her first husband Walter Bridges and second husband Harold Marsh.
Betty attended Rutherford Spindale High School and Lenoir Rhyne College. She was an accomplished business co-owner of Little Pigs Barbeque in Fayetteville and Real-Estate owner of Bridges Enterprises. She was also, a Broker with Joe Thompson Realty and Suzanne Barlow Realty. She was a long-standing member of Highland Presbyterian Church, the American Businesswomen’s Association and the Red Hat Society.
Betty was known for her infectious smile and sharp wit. She was a hard worker and lived according to her favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32, “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another just as God also forgave you in Christ.”
Left to cherish her memories are her children, Barbara Ann (Norris) Smith, Timothy Lee (Donna) Bridges, and Walter Kim Bridges; grandchildren Tondalaya (Brian) Pearson Snortheim, Joshua (Jaimee) Smith, Nicholas Smith, Benjamin (Mary Katherine) Smith, Jessica (Brian) Boone, Michael Bridges, Jacob Bridges, Matthew Bridges; nephew Ben (Janet) Simpson; and was affectionately known as Gigi by 14 great grandchildren. Eternal gratitude to her loving caregivers, Constance Thomas and Paola Lopez.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 1:50 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home, with a funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park - West, 6701 Raeford Rd., Fayetteville, NC 28304.
