Billy Hoston Barefoot, 88, of Fayetteville passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at his residence with his family by his side.
Billy was born on October 15, 1932 in Fayetteville, Cumberland County to the late William Purdie Barefoot and Lila Mae Barefoot.
He was owner of Bill’s Mobile Crane Service, Inc., a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in the Korean War. He was a Master Mason with Creasy Proctor Lodge where he served for 50 years and was a Past Master, a Shriner and was the district Deputy Grand Lecturer of the 17th Masonic District. He was a Longtime member of Comfort Presbyterian Church, Westminster Presbyterian Church and most recently Lumber Bridge Presbyterian Church.
He was a man who valued and enjoyed hard work, and accomplishment. A true inspiration to anyone who had the pleasure of meeting him.
A private family service will be held.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Masonic Home for Children at Oxford or to the Cape Fear Valley Hospice and Palliative Care.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Alice Barefoot; daughters, Teri Barefoot Bartlett and husband Eddie, Diane Barefoot Wells and husband Rob; brother, Charles “Jerry” Barefoot and wife Joanne; 4 grandchildren, Stephanie Simmons Peterson, Edward Hoston Barefoot Bartlett, Orin Dale Bartlett, Lela Wells Silver, and 10 great grandchildren.
