Bobbie Jean (Atkinson) Starling

Bobbie Jean Starling, 79, of Fayetteville passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2022.

Bobbie Jean was born on August 25, 1943, in Robeson County to the late Ambrose Atkinson and Grace Lovette Atkinson. She was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, and served in many other areas. She also loved to sing for other special occasions.

She was a farmer’s wife and she and her husband were inseparable, where you saw one you saw the other. They worked side by side on the farm and helping others. In the off-season, Bobbie would take part-time jobs to help provide the needs of her family and others that she never mentioned. She was known as one of the most hard-working women in the community.

She was loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. She had a quick wit and a very loud nonverbal communication.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Kenneth “PeeWee” Starling and her granddaughters, Jessica Jean Pierpoint and Sarah Nicole Pierpoint.

She is survived by her son, Howard Kenneth Starling and wife Annette; daughter, Kimberly Geraldine Starling Pierpoint and husband David; sisters, Charlotte Atkinson Peters, and Mary Lou Freeman; grandchildren, Savannah Nicole Starling and Stephen Kenneth Pierpoint; and her favorite grand dog, Bocephus “Bo” Starling.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at 3 p.m. at Cedar Creek Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

Memorial may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
