Bobby (Mercer) Lee

Bobby Mercer Lee, 83, of Fayetteville, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2025.

Mrs. Lee was born on September 8, 1942, in Cumberland County to the late John Reece Mercer and Elaine Jones Mercer. She devoted much of her professional life to education, retiring from Fayetteville Technical Community College where she served as an Adult Education instructor, impacting countless lives through her dedication to learning and service.

A woman of deep faith, Mrs. Lee spent her life serving the Lord. She was a Minister at Cool Spring Baptist Church, where her compassion, wisdom, and commitment to ministry were a blessing to her congregation and community.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Harold Lee; her daughter, Lisa Abbott Hall; and her brother, Detrace Mercer.

She is survived by her son, Matthew Philip Abbott of Oregon; her brothers, Billy Mercer and Buckie Mercer; her sisters, Star Herrington and Janice Forbes; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren, all of whom will cherish her loving memory.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:50 p.m. on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel, followed by burial in Lafayette Memorial Park.
