Bonnie Sue (Tiller) Smith

Bonnie Sue Tiller Smith, 76, of Wagram, NC, formerly of Fayetteville, NC, passed away Wednesday January 20, 2021 at Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg, NC.

She was born May 1, 1944 in Narrows, VA to the late Clara Blakenship Tiller and John Allen Tiller. Bonnie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Robert Smith Jr.; and three sisters Patsy Lucas, Margaret “Midge” Johnson, and JoAnn Wilson.

Bonnie started her career in the restaurant business in 1976 and worked as a manager until her retirement in 2009. Throughout her career, she always enjoyed looking out for those in need and cherished her role as a mentor to her employees. Her special heart and giving spirit allowed her to touch many lives over the course of her career. She loved hosting friends and family and enjoyed baking cakes, reading, and dancing. Most of all, she loved making memories with her grandchildren.  

She is survived by three daughters; Vanessa Borst of Hope Mills, NC, Robin Heffelbower and husband Allen Heffelbower of Wagram, NC, and Kimberly Evers and husband William “Billy” Evers of Hope Mills, NC; her granddaughter Marissa Nicole Borst; three grandsons Alan Michael Heffelbower, William “Trey” Evers III , and Charles Issac Evers; and her great-grandson Derrick Lewis Heffelbower.

A funeral service will be held Sunday January 24, at 2PM at the Mission Outreach Cowboy Church at 2150 Arabia Road in Raeford, NC with Pastor Stewart Wells officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Fairview Cemetery in Narrows, VA where she will be laid to rest next to the love of her life, her late husband Charles.
