Carolyn Rebecca Miller, age 89, of Little River, South Carolina, formerly of Fayetteville, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at Wake Medical Center.
Carolyn was born in Cumberland County on February 18, 1936, to the late George E. Thomason and Sadie L. Holland.
She was adored by her daughters, and her life was defined by resilience, generosity, and love. Carolyn brought joy, warmth, and friendship to all who knew her. She will be remembered for her strength in the face of loss, her kindness to everyone she met, and the enduring legacy of love she leaves behind through generations of family shaped by her example.
Carolyn lived a full and meaningful life as an active military wife, a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, a small businesswoman later in life, and a caring neighbor. For much of her life, she was an active member of St. James Lutheran Church in Fayetteville before relocating to South Carolina.
She is survived by her four daughters: Rebecca Bethea and husband Ricky, Cathy Soldato-Couture and husband Peter, Teresa Hart and husband John, and Diana Deadmore and husband Tom. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Nichole, Richard, Peter, Eric, Amanda, Hailey, and Grace; and her great-grandchildren, William, Jordan, Brown, Cooper, Collin, and Piper. She leaves behind her beloved dog, Sadie, and her older brother, George Thomason.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husbands, Maj. Shane N. Soldato and Richard John Miller; her parents; and her siblings, Susan Priddy, Dean Thomason, and Joseph Thomason.
She will be missed more than she knows.
A private graveside service will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026.
