Charlie Linwood Griffis, 90, of Fayetteville passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Charlie Linwood was born August 19, 1930 in Wake County, NC to the late Ressie and Turner Griffis. He was preceded in death by his sister, Viola Stone.
Charlie was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a longtime and faithful member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
He volunteered for 2,000 hours at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Charlie retired from the NC Department of Motor Vehicles with the Drivers' License Division for 35 years.
He was a part-time driver for Trailways Bus and a Special Deputy with Cumberland County Sheriff Dept. and worked at Cross Creek Mall.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Richard McDuffie, officiating. Entombment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Charlie is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Ezda Partin Griffis; son, Linwood Ray Griffis and wife Pam; daughter, Amy Griffis Knussmann and husband Mark; grandchildren, Stephanie Griffis Baierle and husband Rob, Brian Griffis and wife Taylor, Lauren and Lindsey Knussmann; great-grandchildren, Cameron and Haley Baierle , Barret and Kennedy Grifffis.
