Cheryl Elaine (Long) Ray

Cheryl Elaine Long Ray, 75, of Fayetteville, passed away at her home shortly after midnight on September 23, 2025.

Cheryl was born on July 8, 1950, in Fayetteville to James David Long, Sr. and Bettie Autry Long.  She retired after 39 years as Secretary of the Troop B District 1 NC State Highway Patrol.

She was a member of Galatia Presbyterian Church for over 54 years. 

Cheryl is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Marshall Ray; daughter, Jill Hernly (Clay); son, Todd Ray (Chris); brother, David Long (Cindy); sister, Cindy Campbell (Jon); grandchildren, Lauren Mohindroo (Richie), Ashlynn Molchan, Allie Ray and Savannah Ray.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 12:30 pm to 2 pm at Galatia Presbyterian Church followed by a Memorial Service at the church at 2 pm.  Committal will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Galatia Presbyterian Church.
