Christopher Sean Cox, 48, of Fayetteville, passed away on Friday, August 8, 2025, surrounded by his family at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Christopher was born on May 28, 1977, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, to Linda Cox and the late Ronnie Dudley Cox. A lifelong resident of Fayetteville, he graduated from Douglas Byrd High School and went on to build a dedicated career with UPS, where he worked as a driver for over 20 years.
Outside of work, Christopher found joy and peace in the outdoors. He loved camping at Carolina Beach and riding his Jeep in Uwharrie National Forest. An avid fisherman and beachcomber, he spent countless hours searching for sharks' teeth along the shoreline. He and his beloved wife, Virginia, shared a passion for travel, especially to the Caribbean, where he enjoyed snorkeling and exploring nature.
Christopher’s love for the outdoors began right at home. He took great pride in his garden and often used his homegrown vegetables to cook meals for his family and friends. Known for his kind and generous spirit, he was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his uncle, James Harris.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Virginia Cox; his mother, Linda Cole; sister, Wendy Brookshire; mother-in-law, Robin H. Morris; uncles, Mark Harris, Matthew Harris, and Harry Harris; aunts, Ellen Harris and June Wyman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his dearest friends, Alex Capps, Patricia Gaziano and Rob Haggerty; Marguerite Miller, who was like a second mother to him; and his cherished pets, Luna, Gizmo, and Penny, who were truly part of his family.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
