Mr. Christopher “Chris” Dale Jackson, 50, of Grays Creek, Cumberland County, passed away Monday, May 23, 2022, at his home.
Chris was born September 22, 1971, in Fayetteville, NC. He was known for being the most selfless and caring man to anyone he met. He was unwavering in his faith with God and never questioned His plan for him. Chris was a softball coach and conducted private pitching, fielding, and hitting lessons to those far and wide. He always felt he was called to help people in need, not only in the softball realm, but also in his players and their families’ everyday lives. He did this through teaching others more valuable life lessons than just about the game itself.
Chris’ team of doctors described him as a one-of-a-kind patient. He reminded them why they do what they do and reignited a fire in them to work hard at finding a cure for leukemia. Chris loved being on a pier, spending time fishing with family and friends. He also enjoyed taking his three children hunting, watching Star Wars movies, and drinking Mountain Dew. Chris was a devoted family man and loved his wife and three children more than life itself. He will be remembered by all the lives he touched and the impact he made. He will never be forgotten.
Chris is survived by his wife, Bonnie Ileen Jackson of the home; children, Dylan Scott Jackson of Wilmington, Taylor Kristen Jackson of High Point, and Tyler Theo Jackson of Grays Creek; parents, Terry M. Jackson and wife Maria Jackson of Florence, SC, and Julia A. Weber and husband James of Gastonia; brother, Steven K. Jackson and wife Christina of Archdale; sister, Amy M. Brewington and husband Rodney of Waxhaw; and nephews and nieces, Brayden, Kennedy, Allie, Madison, Brandon Valenzuela, and Ashlee Chambers. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Allie Jackson and Jr and Lucy Brigman and a niece, Morgan Chambers.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at the Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park, Fayetteville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
