Colton Lane Derrick

Colton Lane Derrick, 28, of Parkton, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at his group home.

Colton was born on September 14, 1996, in Madison, Wisconsin. At just two months old, Colton suffered a traumatic injury that required lifelong medical care. Despite the challenges he faced, Colton was known for his bright smile, sweet laugh, and the unconditional love he shared with everyone he met. His joyful spirit touched countless lives, and he had a way of drawing people in instantly.

Colton lost his sight at a young age but embraced the world in his own unique way—through sound, music, and vibration. He especially loved music, and his laugh brought happiness to all who knew him. Colton faced every challenge with the heart of a warrior, and though his final battle was silent, he passed away peacefully.

Colton was preceded in death by his grandma, Wanda Colleen Aguilar.

He was the beloved only child of his mother, Dylan Mackenzie Derrick, and is also survived by his caring CMS Agency family in Parkton, especially Tammy Segura, who held a special place in his life; his Aunt Denise and her husband Evaristo Pedraza; uncle Derrill Derrick and many cousins.

A celebration of life service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, 2025 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home Chapel in Fayetteville.
