Beloved son, father, brother, and friend

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Corey Michael Wilson, who left us far too soon at the age of 36 on March 29, 2025. Corey was born in Fayetteville, NC on November 1, 1988, to Marchelo Maynor and Lisa Ureste (Wilson) and spent his formative years in San Antonio, TX.

Corey had a presence that couldn’t be missed — bold, exuberant, and full of life. Whether in a crowded room or a quiet moment, Corey knew how to make you laugh and make you feel welcomed. He had a rare gift for connecting with people and never met a stranger.

Corey’s love for his family ran deep. He held tightly to those connections, valuing family in a way that showed through both in words and actions. Corey was a loving father to his two sons, Noah and Caleb. They were his world, and he was fiercely proud of them. His love for them was evident in every moment he shared with them. 

Corey is preceded in death by his grandfather Papa Larry Maynor. He leaves behind his boys Noah and Caleb Wilson of San Antonio, TX; his father Marchelo Maynor (Shannon) of Fayetteville, NC; mother Lisa Ureste (Juan) of Kenedy, TX; brothers and sisters, Felicia Miller and Jordan Miller of Fayetteville, NC; Lianna Ureste and Joaquin Ureste of Kenedy, TX; grandparents, Teresa Maynor of Fayetteville, NC; Laura Miles (Tony) of Fayetteville, NC; Michael Wilson (Susan) of Green Valley, AZ; Kathy and Michael Miller of Fayetteville, NC; and countless other family members who loved him dearly, and many friends whose lives he touched with his heart.

Corey lived life enthusiastically, loved deeply, and left behind memories that will echo in the lives of those who knew him.

He will be missed more than words can say. 

There will be a celebration of Corey’s life in Fayetteville, NC on Sunday, April 13 beginning with the visitation at 12:00 followed by a funeral service at 2:00 at Jernigan-Warren at 545 Ramsey Street in Fayetteville. He will be laid to rest at Lafayette Memorial Park West at 6701 Raeford Road at 4:00.
