Daniel Steven Hernandez

CSM(Ret.) Daniel Steven Hernandez, 68, of Fayetteville passed away Wednesday December 16, 2020 at the Levine and Dickson Hospice House of Southminister in Charlotte, NC.

He was born November 9, 1952 in San Antonio, TX to the late Ninfa Delgado Hernandez and Joseph Hernandez.

CSM Hernandez served his country in the U.S. Army in the Special Forces retiring after 32 years of service. He would go on to pursue a career in law enforcement with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. CSM Hernandez enjoyed cheering for the Dallas Cowboys, grilling food on his barbecue, and reading. Most of all, he cherished the memories shared with his beloved family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Maritza Centeno Hernandez; his daughter, Johanna C. Hernandez; his sons Erik S. Hernandez and Daniel Joseph Hernandez; his sisters Christina Tavera, Sylvia Molina, Itsy Andrew, and Vicki Woodruff; his brothers David Hernandez and Joseph Hernandez; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday December 30, 2020 at 1PM at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sandhills State Veteran Cemetery at 2PM with military honors.
