Maria Dolores Patron Beck, age 89, died Monday, July 5,2021 at the Carolina Inn, surrounded by family.
She was born October 21,1931, in New Orleans, LA to the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Dolores Patron. She graduated from Loyola University with a BS degree in Medical Technology and married Dr. Charles Henry Beck on December 26, 1953.
Throughout her life, Dolores dedicated herself to her church, family and her community. She was a devoted parishioner of Saint Patrick Catholic Church, where she served in various committee roles such as Ladies Sodality, Sunday School teacher, PTO for the Catholic School, Eucharistic Minister to the sick, Catholic Charities and prepared meals for the Care Clinic volunteers.
She was a member of Flora McDonald Garden Club Club, Book Club, several bridge clubs, the Immaculate Conception Sodality and the Ladies Dental Auxiliary.
Dolores was respected and adored by so many family and friends and will be remembered for her Christian principles that guided her daily living. Her wisdom, guidance and knowing how to enjoy each day as a gift were her strong attributes. She cherished making each individual feel as if they were the most special person on this earth and was always willing to help those in need.
Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Charles Henry Beck, Jr. and is survived by her ten children, daughter, Martha Beck Wood and her husband Clyde Wood, Jr. of Fayetteville, NC; daughter, Anne Beck Charles and her husband, Jim Charles of Mebane, NC; son, Charles “Chip” Henry Beck, Jr. and wife, Karen Beck of Bonita Springs, FL; son, Joseph Paul Beck and wife, Jill Beck of Sanford, NC; daughter, Mary Beck Stapleton and husband, Michael Stapleton of Statesville, NC; daughter, Margaret Beck Collier and husband, Mark Collier of Fayetteville, NC; son, Albert Lawrence Beck and wife, LeAnna Beck of Columbia, SC; daughter, Catherine Beck Christianson and husband, Cliff Christianson of Fayetteville, NC; Dolores Beck Quesenberry and husband, Tom Quesenberry of Raleigh, NC; and daughter, Miriam Beck de St. Aubin and husband, Tam de St. Aubin of Siler City, NC. She is also survived by 35 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren with two to arrive soon.
The family would like to thank Dolores’ wonderful caretakers, Theresa St. George, Ola Mae Harold, Helen Young, Ivy Ford, Mary Johnson, Stephanie Shorter, Jesse Minnick, Healthkeeperz Home Health caretakers and her physical therapist, Laura Yarborough for their invaluable help and support which allowed her to live in her personal home.
The funeral will be held Thursday, July 8, 2021 at 12:00 noon at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 2844 Village Drive with the Rev. Monsignor David Brockman and Rev. Father Greg Lowchy officiating. A reception will follow the funeral mass in the Family Life Center. A private burial will be held at Cross Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family Wednesday Evening from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Jernigan Warren Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Saint Patrick Catholic Church, Duke Cancer Society for children’s summer camp, CARE Clinic, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or a charity of your choice.
