Donald DiPaolo Obituary

Donald DiPaolo, 60, of Hope Mills, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. He was born August 2, 1964 to the late Pietro and Maria DiPaolo .

Donald DiPaolo honorably served in the United States Army with Airborne HHC 25th Signal Battalion as an Administration Specialist. Following his active duty, he continued his service in the Army Reserves in New York. Throughout his military career, he received several commendations, including the First Oak Leaf Cluster. Proud of his Army service, he embraced the opportunities it provided for adventure and travel, taking him to destinations such as Egypt and Ireland. His fluency in Italian also led him to serve as a translator in Grenada, a sister country to Italy.

After his military service, Donald built a successful career in the auto insurance industry as an adjuster, earning numerous accolades, including Adjuster of the Year. He had a deep passion for sports and dedicated his time to coaching, where he was recognized for his commitment and support. A diehard fan of the New York Giants and Miami Hurricanes football teams, as well as the Italian National Soccer Team he never missed an opportunity to cheer them on.

Donald is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Sivi Collins-DiPaolo; his four children, Nicholas, Peter, Alex, and Aidan; and his grandson, Gianni. He is also survived by his siblings, Joseph DiPaolo, Nicholas DiPaolo, and Rosa DiPaolo-Hochheimer. He is predeceased by Anna DiPaolo, Frances Lana and Lucy Insalaco.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of service, dedication, and love will live on in the hearts of those he touched.

A funeral Mass will held Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at 11 A.M. at St. Patrick Catholic Church. The family will receive friends prior to Mass from 10 to 11 A.M. at the church. Committal service will take place at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at 12 P.M.
