Doris Ann (Maxwell) English

Doris Ann Maxwell English, 87, of Stedman, passed away at her home on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.

Born in Cumberland County, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Wilma Maxwell.  She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. English.

She was a retired school teacher and a member of Highland Presbyterian Church and Cokesbury Methodist Church.  She loved taking care of her family including all of her cats.  She enjoyed reading, gardening and cooking.  She had a passion for history and enjoyed telling stories about her home place which has been in the family since the 1790s. 

She is survived by her son, Maxwell "Glenn" Murphy and wife, Kathy, and grandchildren, Lisa Murphy, Emily Murphy, and Elizabeth Murphy.

A Graveside service will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025, at 3 pm at Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey St.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Fayetteville Animal Protection Society (FAPS), 3927 Bragg Blvd., Fayetteville, NC 28303.
