Dorothy Joyce (Capps) Harris

Dorothy Capps Harris, 92, peacefully returned to her Lord and Savior on October 16, 2025.  She was born at Wade, North Carolina to the late Alice Holland Capps and George Alexander Capps.  She married the love of her life Charley in 1952 and took on the role of a military wife and homemaker. Together, they travelled beyond North Carolina and the United States until returning to Fayetteville, North Carolina in 1979.  She faithfully attended Northwoods Temple Church and loved her church family. 

Survivors include her children, Debi Kizer, Hope Frick, Terri Elliott, Russell (Patricia) Harris and George (Roni) Harris; grandchildren, Rebekkah (Jeb) Brailsford, Phillip Kizer, Amanda Snuffer, Renae Frick, Morgan (Cody) Gordan, Michaela Elliott, Austin Harris, Ashley Miller and Melissa Holland. Her true pride and joy were her 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Dot was preceded in death by her five siblings: one being her sister and best friend, Ethel Royal.  Prior to her sister’s death in 2024, the two of them were inseparable and if you saw one, you saw the other. 

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charley Allen Harris and will forever rest beside him at Cumberland Memorial Gardens. 

Graveside services will be Noon, Friday, October 24, 2025, at Cumberland Memorial Gardens with visitation at graveside. The family request that In lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity of your choice.
