Mr. Douglas Weston Whitfield, 63, of Fayetteville passed away Friday July 10, 2020 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
He was born January 29, 1957 in Cumberland County to the late Velnor Warren Whitfield and Carroll Whitfield.
Douglas was a faithful member of Hope Mills Pentecostal Holiness Church where he served as a member of the choir, a superintendent of the Sunday School and former deacon. His hobbies included cheering for the UNC Tar Heels basketball team and enjoying classic western films. Most of all, Douglas enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Tammy Whitfield; his daughter Anna Elizabeth Whitfield Johnson and husband Bryan; his son John Simeon Whitfield; two grandsons Liam Michael Johnson and Jack Weston Johnson; his sister Linda Siomacco and husband Ed; and several nieces and nephews.
A private funeral service will be held for the family on Monday July 13 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home with Pastor Elton Bryan officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hope Mills Pentecostal Holiness Church Building Fund at 5855 Rockfish Road Hope Mills, NC 28348.
