Edith Tillman passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025, at Valley Hospice House, in Fayetteville, surrounded by family, friends, and love, after a six-year battle with cancer. She fought this battle like a warrior.
Edith was a very kind, sweet, trustworthy, faithful, and loving partner of Jim Lang for 41 years. Together, they enjoyed spending time with her nephew Donald, his wife Chris and their families.
She loved her Eureka Baptist Church family. Edith was not only a charter member, but also the pianist for 35 years, leader of the youth group, church historian, and homecoming chairperson. She retired from Cumberland County Schools as a special needs educator. She will be missed very much by all who knew her. Heaven has gained a sweet angel.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Tillman and niece, Savannah Stephens. She is survived by her life partner, Jim Lang; nephew, Donald Tillman (Christina), and niece, Christy Tillman; great nephews Brandon Tillman (Katie), Phillip Tillman (Brooke), Lucas Stephens, and Jacob Britton; great niece, Megan Webber (Alex); and numerous great, great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Eureka Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Cumberland Memorial Gardens.
